Korean clover (Kummerowia stipulacea) is one of many introduced plants that spreads in part as a lawn weed, but also colonizes other habitats where it takes the place of native vegetation. Here it is growing in exposed gravel in Capon Bridge, WV, along the Cacapon river. Note that nothing is growing in with it; although it is a nitrogen fixer, it tends to form monocultures.
