Hitchcock's Mock Orange (Philadelphus hitchcockianus Hu)

Most sources consider this a synonym of mearns' mock orange (Philadelphus mearnsii); however the USDA map for that species also shows it as present in El Paso County, Texas, and BONAP does not, but BONAP also does not show that county as being a false report. This suggests that there may be something more complex than a 1-1 correspondence between these names, but we have not yet been able to discern what the relationship is.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

Our map is based on the USDA's county-level reports.
