Uses

This plant is widely used in cooking, either fresh or dried. It also has some medicinal uses.

This plant is the only member of the Rosmarinus clade (formerly Genus) found in North America, but numerous other Salvia species are found in North America, including both native and introduced species.

Notes

This species was for a long time classified in a separate genus, as Rosmarinus officinalis, along with a few other closely-related species. Although this grouping still forms a taxonomic clade, it has recently been reclassified in the Salvia genus.
