Page contents

Range

This species is occasionally planted in landscaping, but has not been recorded establishing in the wild in North America.

Uses

This species is occasionally planted in landscaping in North America. It is one of the parents of the hybrid London planetree (Platanus ×hispanica), the other being the American sycamore (Platanus occidentalis). That hybrid is more widely planted, because it is better-adapted to the climate here. This species' does not survive as well here, and particularly struggles in cold winters.
