Wheel Milkweed (Asclepias uncialis Greene)

USDA PLANTS recgonizes two subspecies of this species. We follow the treatment of POWO which does not recognize any sub-taxa. USDA PLANTS also lumps Eastwood's milkweed (Asclepias eastwoodiana) in with this species, as part of ssp. ruthiae, whereas we treat it as separate.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

Some sources show this species as also native to Utah and Wyoming; we follow BONAP's treatment which says it does not occur there and never did. This species is also native to Mexico; we have yet to build this portion of its map.
