Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is widely agreed to be native to Mexico through the tropical Americas and to have expanded its range northward slightly into the US. POWO considers it also native to Texas, but we follow BONAP's convention marking it as expanded there as well. We have yet to build the portion of its map in Mexico.
