This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

POWO reports this species as occurring farther west in Mexico, but not where our range map suggests (nowhere east of Sonora). We could find very few herbarium specimens on the Mexican side of the border. Given how abundant and widespread this species is on the US side of the border, right up to the border, it seems unlikely that it is not also common in Mexico's portion of the Chihuahuan desert, but because of its absence farther west in the US, it also seems unlikely it occurs farther west in Mexico. For now this discrepancy remains a mystery but we tentatively report our map as probably accurate in Mexico as well.
