Introduced |
This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is native to southern Europe. Both BONAP and POWO report this species as also introduced in British Columbia, but it is not listed in E-Flora BC and we could not find any specific records. The Burke Herbarium mentions it is found in "southwestern British Columbia" but links to an E-Flora BC page that is a broken link, suggesting that the entry may have existed but may have been deleted.
↑Notes
We prefer the name "French Hawksbeard" over Turkish hawksbeard because this species is native to France but not native to Turkey, and does not even occur in Turkey, the easternmost limit of its range extending only to Bulgaria.
