Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is native to southern Mexico and the Tropical Americas; BONAP reports the Florida and North Carolina populations as adventive, which we report as introduced because they are separated from the native populations by a large gap in which this species currently does not occur. We have not yet built the portion of this species' range map in Mexico.
