BONAP marks the Arizona and Oregon populations as Adventive, suggesting they are introductions, but SEINet remarks that it is not known whether these are introductions or remnants of an earlier time when this species had a wider range. At either rate they are disconnected from the rest of the native range by a large distance and major geographic divides.

The common name "shortpod draba" illustrates the problem with using scientific genera as part of the common name: this species has now been reclassified into the Abdra genus, making this common name confusing. For this reason we recommend avoiding using it, along with any common name referencing a scientific name.
