Alpine Forget-me-not (Eritrichium argenteum W.Wight)

BONAP and USDA PLANTS refer to this taxon as Eritrichium nanum var. elongatum (Rydb.) Cronquist, which they treat as a variety of Eritrichium nanum (Vill.) Schrad. ex Gaudin, a name that POWO does not list. Although we were not able to make sense of this discrepancy, it is clear that the taxon USDA and BONAP refers to as the variety corresponds to the same taxon POWO treats as this species.

This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

Notes

BONAP and USDA plants both reference the common name of this taxon as "arctic alpine forget-me-not" which may reference an older taxonomic scheme in which this taxon was lumped together with others that also occur in the arctic. As this taxon is now treated as separate by POWO, and we accept this treatment, this common name no longer makes sense, as this species only occurs in the lower 48 US.
