Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is generally agreed-upon to be native to Mexico through Central America and the Caribbean; different sources disagree as to how far north it is native. We have deferred to FSUS which considers it native to TX and peninsular FL, but potentially non-native in the rest of the continental US. We mark it as Expanded because these regions are close to the native range. We have yet to build the portion of the map in Mexico.
