This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is native to South and Central America south of Mexico; it has expanded its range greatly and is now found throughout Mexico and in parts of the US. We mark the populations in Arizona Expanded because they are connected to the native range more-or-less contiguously through where this plant occurs in Mexico, and will mark these populations Expanded too when we complete that portion of its map, which we have not yet done. The eastern populations are disconnected from the rest of the range by long distances over which the plant does not occur, and as such we mark them Introduced.
