Paradox Cinquefoil (Potentilla supina L.)
Also known as bushy cinquefoil, carpet cinquefoil; also classified as Potentilla paradoxa Nutt.
Some authorities, including USDA PLANTS, recognize a separate species Potentilla paradoxa Nutt. We follow the scheme of POWO and most other authorities which treat that taxon as a subspecies of Potentilla supina, particularly as subsp. paradoxa. POWO recognizes five subspecies of P. supina, but only this one has been documented occurring in North America.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is also native to Canada and Mexico; we have yet to build these portions of its map.
