Introduced but Eliminated |
This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species seems to appear sporadically in North America and does not tend to persist. It may be underreported; past specimens have been misidentified with the uncommonly introduced golden dock (Rumex maritimus) and the widely-introduced fiddle dock (Rumex pulcher). USDA PLANTS reports this species as introduced in Santa Barbara county, CA, but neither BONAP nor Calflora report it there. We also found records from a single site in Baja California, north of Punta Colonet, but have not been able to verify whether it persisted; it likely did not. More recently, a population was found northwest of Idaho Falls; it was uncommon but fruiting.
