We found several records of this species at various locations across the continent, but the only one that seems to be verified as having formed a sustaining population is in Bridgeport, CT.

This species is an annual.
↑Uses
This species has been cultivated in gardens since the 1820's. It has been bred to have a large number of different colors and patterns in its flowers. In the garden it is known as a plant that is slightly difficult to grow.
It likely has relatively low invasive potential in most of North America because it has been cultivated for a long time and has only established in the wild on one site. The climate here is more extreme than in its native range, and it can be limited both by hot and cold temperatures. It has, however, established in the wild in Belgium and South Russia.
