This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 4 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This aquatic species has been found in one location in California, in South Bay, Los Angeles County, just upstream from Machado Lake. It did not persist.
↑Habitat
In Brazil, this species is found in shallow, stagnant freshwater.
↑Uses
This species is used as an aquarium plant.
We recommend caution with its use, especially in warmer parts of the continent, as it likely has invasive potential and has been recorded escaping into the wild once in North America, and it has established in Peninsular Malaysia.
↑Notes
This species has been closely monitored because of its tendency to form dense monocultures in its native habitat.
