Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is occasionally cultivated, but is also weedy and thrives in roadsides and disturbed habitats. It has expanded northward both on the east coast and into the midwest, but is mostly absent from the Appalachians.
