Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is widely agreed to be native to South America, but it is unknown exactly where its native range lies, with some sources even claiming it is native to the US, although most say it is not native here. It is found throughout Mexico but we have not yet built this portion of its range map, nor have we attempted to assess whether or not it is native there.
