This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is native to Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, but now occurs both east and west of this range. Parts of the new range are adjacent or nearly-so to the native range, and we mark these regions as Expanded. But some regions are separated from the native range by long distances over which this plant does not occur, and we mark these as Introduced. BONAP also shows this species as introduced in Riverside county, CA, but we found no record on Calflora. We also notice that FSUS does not seem to accept the GA, FL, and AL records reported by BONAP. We have not yet reconciled these differences, so our map reflects this uncertainty.
