Meadow Starwort (Stellaria palustris Ehrh. ex Hoffm.)

Also classified as Stellaria palustris (Murray) Retz.

We noticed some discrepancies in the authorities cited for this name between POWO and USDA and BONAP. USDA and BONAP cite (Murray) Retz. whereas POWO lists no name with these authorities, but instead lists Ehrh. ex Hoffm. Furthermore POWO does not list the synonym Alsine glauca (With.) Britton but rather lists Alsine glauca (With.) E.H.L.Krause. We have not been able to explain these discrepancies in cited authorities, but examining the records in detail, they seem to refer to the same taxon.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species has also been introduced in Canada; we have yet to build this portion of its range map.
