Durum is also established in the wild in Canada and is more widespread there than in the US; we have yet to build the portion of its range map in Canada.
↑Life Cycle
Durum wheat is an annual grass that germinates early in spring and grows throughout spring and early summer, with the seed maturing by mid to late summer.
↑Uses
Durum wheat is the second most cultivated type of wheat globally after common wheat (Triticum aestivum), and is used for pasta, couscous, to make various breads, and coarsely ground to make semolina flour which has a variety of uses. Durum wheat has a higher protein content than common wheat.
