Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This aquatic plant is sometimes cultivated, and readily spreads into the wild, leading it to establish at a few sites slightly north and inland of its native range; we mark the new range as expanded because it is relatively close to the native range, and because they occur in a broader region where there are a few native inland populations as well.
