Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is not usually planted, and is often treated as a weed and intentionally controlled. However, it can be favored in pastures by overgrazing. Populations of this plant seem to be increasing and it seems to be moving farther inland in much of its range. The portion of its range in which it is expanding is likely greater than pictured on our tentative map.
