This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is occasionally cultivated in gardens, but is also weedy and can spread into the wild, where it thrives in disturbed areas including roadsides and railroad tracks. It has established at numerous sites outside its native range. Most of them are directly east of its range, and we mark these as expanded, but several of the isolated populations farther away, we mark introduced due to their separation. This designation however is subjective, and we may update it, especially if we see evidence that this species has filled in gaps in its range.
