This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 4 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
In North America, this species is occasionally cultivated but does not seem to establish in the wild readily. It was recorded once, near Cambridge, MA, in the waste of a wool carding factory, but did not persist. One iNaturalist record in NH appears to be a cultivated plant.
↑Habitat
In North America, only found on one site in Massachussets. Its habitats in North America are likely anthropogenic habitats with dry, nutrient-poor soils, but it might have potential to establish more widely on the west coast, as the conditions there more closely resemble those of its native range.
This plant has become invasive in other regions, and is established in the wild in Australia, Iran, and also north of its original range in Northern Europe.
