Indian Chrysanthemum (Chrysanthemum indicum L.)
Page contents
↑Uses
This species is generally considered to be one of the parent species used to breed the harder garden mum or florist's daisy, Chrysanthemum ×morifolium. C. japonicum is another possible parent. We have not found definitive work establishing which species were used as parents.
This species, as a pure species, is rarely used as an ornamental plant because its flowers are less showy.
Both the hybrids and this pure species are used medicinally, and occasionally used as food, either with people consuming pickled flowerheads, or using the flowers to brew tea.
