Introduced or Not Present |
This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is native to Mexico and southward; it is widely cultivated in colder regions as a houseplant. It has established at two locations in the warmer portions of the US, discontiguously with its native range. Because these introductions are separated from the native range by long distances we mark them as introductions. We have yet to build the portion of its map in Mexico.
↑Habitat
FSUS reports this species as occurring in "disturbed pineland hammocks" and "disturbed suburban areas".
