This species is native to South Africa and Mozambique, and is widely grown indoors as a house plant. It and has been introduced in California.

Uses

Jade plant is widely grown as a houseplant. In most of North America it cannot survive outdoors, but it has established in the wild in California, where the climate more closely resembles of its native range.

Notes

We prefer the common name "jade plant" because it is most widely used. We caution against the use of the term "money plant" because it more frequently refers to money plant (Lunaria annua).
