Oregon Fescue (Festuca roemeri (Pavlick) E.B.Alexeev)

Also known as Roemer's fescue; also classified as Festuca idahoensis subsp. roemeri (Pavlick) S.G.Aiken.

Some sources, including USDA PLANTS, treat this as a subspecies of idaho fescue (Festuca idahoensis), ssp. roemeri. We separate them per the treatment of BONAP, POWO, and FNA.

This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

Notes

We prefer the name "Oregon Fescue" over Roemer's fescue because we prefer the descriptive name over an honorific one, even though the honorific matches the scientific epithet. Unfortunately, scientific honorifics cannot be renamed under currently-accepted naming practices.
