Introduced or Not Present

This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

BONAP reports this species only in southwest Colorado but there are several iNaturalist records which are near homes but may be wild, sustaining populations farther northeast in Colorado as well.

Notes

We find the common name "German statice" to be misleading as this species is not native to Germany nor does it even occur in the wild there. "Tatarian statice" is a somewhat better common name as its native range coincides more closely with the distribution of the Tatars, even if it is not a perfect match. The name also coincides with the scientific epithet.
