This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This weedy plant thrives in agricultural settings; humans have aided its spread both by creation of new habitat for it, and moving of soil and plant matter, leading it to establish on new sites both east and west of its native range. We mark the west coast populations expanded as they are separated from the native range by large distances, but the eastern populations are relatively contiguous with the native range with only a smaller gap to the populations in Ohio so we mark them expanded. This plant may also be underreported due to difficulty of identification to the level of this taxon.
