Introduced

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

BONAP reports this species as "adventive" in Florida, which is puzzling because it is not native anywhere in the US or even nearby in Mexico, although it is native to southeast Mexico and Cuba and beyond. We have not yet built the portion of its range map in Mexico, and the rest of its range lies outside the scope of our site.

Notes

The status of this plant as native vs. introduced in Florida is unclear. BONAP reports it as "Adventive" and it is not clear what this means; POWO and the Atlas of Florida Plants report it as native. Our current reporting of it as introduced was based on BONAP's classification, but may be in error.
