Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is also native to Mexico; we have not yet built the portion of its map in Mexico; it may only have been extirpated from the portion of the Chihuahuan desert in the US, and may still occur in this region in Mexico.

The common name "Dyssodia" references a genus in which this species was formerly classified.
