This map is based on our research. We have checked its accuracy to Level 3 ecoregions. Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
The NY Plant Atlas reports this as introduced in Ulster county, with records only from Vouchered specimens; we however were unable to find any corresponding Herbarium records, and BONAP does not list it as occurring in that county. This species may or may not occur anywhere in North America; if it does, it is introduced.
↑Uses
This species is widely used in landscaping and gardens, where it is valued for its bold-colored inflorescence. Although it likely does not have the greatest invasive potential in North America because it is widely planted and has not widely established in the wild, we still recommend against planting it because it may have naturalized at at least one site.
