Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.

This species is rather weedy, and rarely planted, but frequently spreads on its own, although humans likely aid its seed distribution into new areas through moving soil or seeds sticking to vehicles, and through creation of disturbed habitats that it favors. We mark new Western populations as expanded because of this plant's weedy nature and because they are mostly contiguous with its native range, separated only by relatively small distances.
