Expanded or Not Present

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is widely agreed upon to be native to Mexico and Texas; BONAP and FSUS both consider further eastward spread to be non-native, and BONAP marks westward spread also non-native. We mark these populations expanded because they are largely contiguous with the native range. we marked the Illinois record as introduced because it is separated from the rest of the range by a long distance, but this was a subjective judgment call. This species is also native to Mexico but we have yet to build this portion of its map.
