Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is native to the Central US but has expanded its range both eastward and westward; we mark the new populations Expanded because there is a clear pattern of most of them being relatively close to the native range with isolated populations a bit farther, and this distribution is similar to the distribution of native populations. This species is also native to Mexico, and has expanded northward into Saskatchewan and Ontario, but we have yet to build these portions of its map.
