Mountain Mock Vervain (Verbena elegans Kunth)
Also classified as Glandularia elegans (Kunth) Umber.
This species, along with other "mock vervains", was treated as belonging to a separate genus, Glandularia, and still is by some authorities. We follow POWO's convention of including it in Verbena, which is supported by the fact that Glandularia is paraphyletic with respect to cpDNA due to horizontal chloroplast transfer between the genera.

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is native to Mexico; we have yet to build this portion of its map. We mark the Texas population Expanded because it is very close to the native range.
