Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is generally agreed to be native to Mexico and the south-central to southwestern US, but sources disagree about exactly where it is native. We follow BONAP's scheme which treats it as adventive in CA, and in MO, MS, and eastward. The Maryland introduction likely did not persist in the wild. We have yet to build the portion of the map in Mexico.
