↑Habitat

This species seems to have more invasive potential in West Coast climates than on the East Coast; it has established mostly on the West Coast, as well as in Western Europe, but most introductions in eastern North America have not persisted.

In the east, it has been found in tidal marshes and freshwater marshes. In the West it seems to have established in a wider variety of habitats, including roadside ditches and riparian areas, often occurring in anthropogenic habitats.

↑Uses

This species has been widely grown as an ornamental plant, although its use has fallen out of favor due to its propensity to become invasive.
