Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is widely agreed to be native to Central America, through Mexico. BONAP reports it as adventive in Texas, but FSUS, which we generally trust as more up-to-date reports it as native, and we could find no other sources claiming this species is not native to Texas. We have yet to build the portion of the map in Mexico.
