This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This species is widely agreed to be native to Mexico, Texas, and Arizona. It is now found in areas north, west, and east of its native range, but different sources disagree as to the exact extent of its native range. Our map mostly follows FSUS' convention in the east, and BONAP in the West. We mark all of the new portions of the range Expanded because they are mostly adjacent to the native range and well-connected, although a few of the more distant outlying populations could perhaps also be marked as Introduced. We have yet to build the portion of its map in Mexico.
