Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
This small, weedy species is native to Mexico and the Caribbean, and has been expanding its range lately. There was originally a gap between the range in Florida, which was no connected by land to the native range, and the south Texas population, but this species has been filling in gaps and may occur along most of the length of the Gulf Coast now. BONAP's map is out-of-date; FSUS shows this species occurring along much of the length of the Gulf Coast between the FL and TX populations, and we found numerous specific records, most of which were from within the past few years. We have yet to build the portion the map in Mexico.
