This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is widely cultivated, and readily escapes into the wild where it thrives in open, somewhat degraded lands. Humans have increased the habitat for it in the east; through these escapes it has expanded its range eastward somewhat, but also been introduced to a few isolated sites far from its range. We mark new populations near its native range expanded, but mark more isolated ones in Virginia, Florida, and Washington as introduced.
