This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is native to the West Coast and somewhat inland, but has been widely planted in gardens, often escaping to form wild populations, but it is not particularly vigorous in the East. We have marked most of these populations introduced, as they are separated from the native range, but some of the closer introductions, such as Idaho, could perhaps be marked Expanded, which is reflected in uncertainty in our map.
