This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is not widely cultivated in gardens, but is somewhat weedy and has expanded east of its range, probably taking advantage of more open habitats created by humans. It is rare throughout most of its new range. We mark the entire new range expanded even though it consists of isolated populations, because the plant seems to be spreading on its own, and the new range is relatively contiguous with the native range. It may be under-reported due to its visual similarity to other plants in this genus.
