Range - Expand

Native or Not Present

This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.

This species is not usually planted, and is often treated as a weed and intentionally controlled. However, it can be favored in pastures by overgrazing. Populations of this plant seem to be increasing and it seems to be moving farther inland in much of its range. The portion of its range in which it is expanding is likely greater than pictured on our tentative map.
