Although this plant occurs somewhere in each of these regions, it may only occur in a small part of some or all of them.
There is uncertainty as to the native range of this spceies; it is agreed to be native to the south-central US, and agreed to occur in California, but BONAP marks it adventive along the west coast, whereas Calflora and POWO mark it as native there. It is occasionally cultivated in native plant gardens, and humans may have aided its spread.
