This tentative map is based on our own research. It may have limited data on Canada and/or Mexico, and there is some subjectivity in our assignment of plants as introduced vs. expanded. Read more in this blog post.
This small weedy plant is rare and endangered in parts of its range, having been locally extirpated in some regions, but it has also established new populations in some midwestern states, slightly east of its native range, which we mark expanded even though they are relatively isolated. It likely has taken advantage of humans creating more of the open habitats it prefers, and it may have spread from western populations where it is more abundant.
